The Alma Thomas Fine Arts Center is home to the Departments of Art, Music and Theatre. It also is the site of many community-wide events, including the annual Brown Symposium, year-round theatre productions, recitals, concerts and art exhibits.
The Alma Thomas Fine Arts Center funded by and named for the late Alma Thomas of Austin, a long-time member of Southwestern's Board of Trustees, features two theaters, a recital hall, rehearsal halls, practice rooms and faculty offices. An expansion to the Fine Arts Center, completed in Fall 1999, includes a new gallery space, a sculpture garden, and painting and drawing studios. Renovations will soon begin on the proscenium stage and other parts of the center and will include the addition of a formal musical recital hall.
