Jessica Espinoza Wins the “Jessica Grant”

Saturday, Feb. 20, in the Literary Society corner of the A. Franks Smith Jr. Library Center, members of The Williamson County Texas Alumnae Association of Delta Gamma National Fraternity gathered to present Jessica Espinoza with the “Jessica Grant” in their latest effort in a long line of contributions to do more for the student. It has been the desire of the fraternity to assist visually impaired individuals, and, since reading about Espinoza’s arrival on campus six semesters ago, members of the fraternity have offered to help her in various ways – from prerecording her reading assignments to general adjustment to college life. Upon reading about Espinoza, Martha Clark Thurmond, an active Delta Gamma member for 70 years, has been in close contact with the student and most recently worked to organize a way for the fraternity’s members to raise funds for Jessica. Thurmond also matched the contribution made by the 33 members in order to assist Jessica financially as she continues her education at SU.
