Two Escape Serious Injury in House Fire
“Two adults jumped from a second-story window and escaped serious injury in a house fire in Georgetown this morning. The blaze at 913 College Street started at about 6:45 this morning and was under control by 7:45.
A 21-year-old woman sustained an ankle injury and a 22-year-old man was uninjured after jumping from a smoke-filled second story window. No one else was in the home at the time of the fire.
In a preliminary assessment, Georgetown firefighters believe that the fire started on the front porch and quickly spread through the walls to the second story and attic of the two-story house. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No charges have been filed with respect to its origin.
The house, which was built in 1946 according to records from the Williamson County Appraisal District, sustained significant damage to both floors.”
[3/3/09: 5:10 PM] Dr. Mike Leese sent an email. Please help out in any way.
As many of you know, three Southwestern students lost most of their
personal belongs and furniture in a house fire early Sunday morning.
Below is a list of items that would be very helpful to them, if you
happen to have extras. The three textbooks are critical, if any of you
have a copy that you are not presently using.
Photography and Print Book
Pens pencils, spiral notebooks, etc.
Cheap Flip Flops (size 10)
If you wish to contribute any of the above items, please take them to
the Residence Life Office in the Caskey Center.
Since the three women will not be able to move into a different house
for another two weeks, it would be best to call one of them if you have
furniture, and then they can either arrange to have it picked up or
delivered once they have a house available.
The three women and their cell numbers are:
