The BIG Event is a day of service, which encourages Southwestern University students, faculty, staff, & alumni to spend a day volunteering within the Georgetown community.
Modeled after Texas A&M’s 30-year tradition, The BIG Event aims to engage with the Georgetown community that surrounds and supports our university students. The intent is three fold:
- To raise awareness about a variety of issues that nonprofits are addressing within the local community
- To strengthen partnerships between the Southwestern and Georgetown communities
- To say “Thank you!” for welcoming our students into the greater community.
While The BIG Event is only a single day, we hope that it will support the development of a more sustained and active relationship between Georgetown and the SU campus.
