Breaks from studying are important - very important. So, occasionally our students come out of their residence hall or library nook and HAVE FUN. There’s plenty to enjoy on campus: concerts, comedians, films, lectures, The Korouva Milkbar, innumerable intramural and recreational activities, and 90+ student organizations that do their fair share of socializing!
ON CAMPUS
- Scare up a game of Ultimate on the Academic Mall
- Play Madden on the XBOX 360 in The Cove
- Have a cup of tea at Korouva Milkbar
- Get your groove on at Friday Night Live

- Swim the Blue Hole

DOWN THE ROAD IN AUSTIN
- Swim in Austin’s world famous Barton Springs Pool
- Rummage through Austin’s vintage clothing shops or the monthly City Wide Garage Sale
- Take a canoe out on Austin’s Town Lake or walk its extensive hike & bike trails
- Tour the Texas State Capitol
- Explore Zilker Park’s Botanical Gardens
- Stroll through Mexic-Arte Gallery
- See a life-sized reproduction of the Oval Office at the L.B.J. Library
- Catch some meditation time at the Umlauf Sculpture Garden
- Experience Austin nightlife on Sixth Street – Halloween is particularly enjoyable for people watching.
- Try a hamburger for each day of the week at Hut’s on Sixth
- Stroll through the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center
- Visit the remarkable Blanton Art Museum
- Take a walk down The Drag
- Make a late-night excursion to Kerbey Lane Cafe
- Run (Austin has been lauded a “runner’s paradise” by Runner’s World magazine)

SEASONAL TRIPS IN AUSTIN
- The world comes to visit Austin for two weeks each Spring Break at the South by Southwest Music/Film/Interactive Conference (March)
- Spend three days at Zilker Park with 100,000 music fans at the Austin City Limits Festival (September)
- Mingle with authors of the highest calibre, and take-in free workshops and presentations on every subject under the sun at the Texas Book Festival (November)
- Would-be hippies and those who “keep Austin weird” can be found at Eeyore’s Birthday Party (a, uh, unique Austin tradition)
- The biannual Old Pecan Street Festival features the best in Austin music, art and food (September and March, typically).
