President Burger - Honors and Awards

Southwestern University President Edward B. Burger has received numerous awards for his teaching and videos. The most noteworthy of these came in 2010 , when he received the Robert Foster Cherry Award for Great Teaching from Baylor University, one of the most prestigious teaching awards in the world.

2013 Telly Award, for the video titled “The Science of NHL Hockey: Hockey Geometry” produced by NBC Learn.

Honorary degree from Williams College, June 2013

2013 Fellow of the American Mathematical Society, inducted in the inaugural “class” of AMS Fellows

Highlighted as a 2012 Hero in Education by Microsoft Education Worldwide

Named the Francis Christopher Oakley Third Century Professor of Mathematics by Williams College in 2012

2011 Distinguished Achievement Award, for Mobile Device Application, The Association of Educational Publishers

2010 Telly Award, for the “Mathletes” episode of the NBC-Universal television series “The Science of the Olympic Winter Games” (the entire series won a 2011 Emmy Award)

Named the Lissack Professor for Social Responsibility and Personal Ethics by Williams College in 2010
