Found Footage Festival, comedy videos

Friday, September 26th at 10:00 pm in The Cove

— a comedian has found (unintentionally) funny old videos and comments on them as you watch (similar to Alamo Drafthouse’s Master Pancake)
— has been featured on NPR, ABC World News, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and G4 TV’s Attack of the Show
— has been named a Critic’s Pick in dozens of publications, including The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle and The Chicago Tribune

The Hunts, indie-folk band

Friday, October 3rd at 9:00 pm in The Cove

— band comprised of seven siblings from Virginia
— have done seven U.S. tours and traveled worldwide for ten years
— will be performing at Austin City Limits 2014

Good News Poetry Tour, spoken word artists

Friday, October 17th at 8:00 pm in The Cove; free writing workshop at 4:30 pm in the Lynda Ballrom

— featuring Dylan Garity, Hieu Minh Nguyen, and Sam Cook
— credits among the group: College National Poetry Slam Champion, National Poetry Slam Champion, work featured on Upworthy and The Huffington Post, Co-Founder/Executive Director and Assistant Director of Button Poetry, author of The Way to the Sugar, works published in poetry journals

Friday, November 7th at 10:00 pm in The Cove

— formerly a member of the pop duo Jupiter Rising, now has a solo career
— singer-songwriter who plays everything from pop to blues to jazz to rock and roll

— has opened for Jason Mraz, The Black Eyed Peas, Lauryn Hill, Lupe Fiasco, Etta James, Boyz II Men, and Eric Hutchinson among others  

— her music has been featured on “So You Think You Can Dance”, “My Sweet Sixteen”, “The Hills”, “Criminal Minds”, and other television shows

Jason Weems, comedian

Friday, November 14th at 8:00 pm in The Cove

— performed at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, a prestigious “by invitation only” comedy festival 

— was a featured semi-finalist on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing”  

— filmed an independently-released hour comedy special entitled “Jason Weems, Vol. 1: Intellectual Property”

— his former job as a kindergarten teacher has shaped his comedy

Step and Stroll, student step show

Friday, November 21st at 8:00 pm in Bishops Lounge

— co-sponsored by Community Chest, DEC, ODE, Student Activities, Perfectly Pearl, and UPC
— step routine performances by student organizations, including Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Xi Delta, Delta Delta Delta, Kappa Delta Chi, Perfectly Pearl, and Zeta Tau Alpha 
— step teams from around the Austin area will perform as well

Friday, December 5th at 7:00 pm in Bishops Lounge

— blackjack, craps, roulette, Texas hold’em and slot machines
— each attendee will receive “$20,000” in poker chips, which may be used at any table
— cash your chips in at the end of the night (9:15 pm) to enter drawings for various prizes
— enjoy a sampling of mocktails and snacks

— first 35 people at Casino Night also get a prize
