    The Department of Student Life would like to introduce a brand new series called How To Life where we will be offering monthly tutorials on basic life skills that will help get you through your time at SU and beyond!



    Come out to the Bishop’s Lounge on Tuesday, September 16th at 5pm for our first topic of the year…Home Care! We’ll be showing you how to clean your bathroom, how to choose the right supplies, and more!

    The Leadership Development Series kicks off with a special presentation on Recruiting & Retaining Members.  This workshop focuses on the tips and tricks to entice people to join your organization and how to keep the members you already have.  This workshop is great for every organization!

    Ballet Folklorico Festival is the largest Mexican folk dance company in San Antonio.  They have performed at various venues throughout the United States and Mexico, and are now coming to Southwestern!

    3:00pm

    The SU Shuttle is back this fall and Student Activities will be coordinating its operation.  This weekly shuttle makes stops at both HEB and Wolf Ranch.  All SU students can ride along for free.

    No advance reservations are necessary.  Just bring your cell phone and show up behind the McCombs Center (near The Cove patio) between 3:00-3:45pm on a designated shuttle day.

  • Image preview Friday Night Live: Comedy Videos, Found Footage Festival
    The Cove

    A comedian has found (unintentionally) funny old videos and comments on them as you watch (similar to Alamo Drafthouse’s Master Pancake). The Found Footage Festival has been featured on NPR, ABC World News, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and G4 TV’s Attack of the Show. It has been named a Critic’s Pick in dozens of publications, including The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle and The Chicago Tribune.

  • Auditions for SU Showcase

    4:00pm - 7:00pm
    Come audition for the SU Showcase!  This semester’s event will be held on Friday, October 24th and we need talented students to perform.  All talents are welcome - singing, dancing, hoola-hooping, stand-up comedy, baton twirling - the possibilities are endless.

    The Hunts are a band comprised of seven siblings from Virginia. They have done seven U.S. tours and traveled worldwide for ten years and will be performing at Austin City Limits 2014.

    Good News Poetry Tour features Dylan Garity, Hieu Minh Nguyen, and Sam Cook. Credits among the group: College National Poetry Slam Champion, National Poetry Slam Champion, work featured on Upworthy and The Huffington Post, Co-Founder/Executive Director and Assistant Director of Button Poetry, author of The Way to the Sugar, works published in poetry journals.

    The Leadership Development Series continues this month with the topic Leading Outside the Lines.  Often times leadership is looked at from a formal stand point, but often times it is the informal versions of leadership that have the biggest impact.  Come learn about how you can be a leader without a formal role, and how to best take advantage of the informal structure of an organization to help energize your team, and get the best results.
