Herman Brown Residence Hall

Herman Brown is an upperclass coed hall housing sophomore students, located in the Western Complex on the west side of campus. Herman Brown houses 88 residents and 3 student staff members in two-person rooms with suite-style bathrooms. The hall has laundry facilities and a study lounge on the first floor.

Herman Brown is unique in that it is laid out in an open, apartment style format, which makes it and its partner building, Moody-Shearn, extremely popular.

The university provides each resident in Herman Brown with:

A standard twin bed (85”x38”)
A desk (49”x24”)
A desk chair (22”x20”)
A multi-drawered dresser (30”x24”)
A spacious walk-in closet (shared by the roommates)

Herman Brown Hall, funded by The Brown Foundation, Inc. of Houston, is named for Herman Brown, who served on the University’s Board of Trustees for 20 years.
