Southwestern University has an immediate opening for a Video Specialist. This is a twelve-month, full-time, grant-funded position with benefits. This position, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation is for a period of three years and directly supports the academic mission of Southwestern University by providing video production support and training for the faculty and students of the university. This position requires flexibility, diplomacy, very good communication skills, and hands-on management with exceptional attention to detail.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: perform, supervise and oversee all aspects of video production from pre-production through distribution of video productions; schedule for and manage the video production studio; recommend policy and establish procedures to ensure effective video production services to the faculty and other members of the university community; provide maintenance and service of equipment, supplies and resources allocated; prepare budgetary recommendations for new or additional services, products, and equipment; provide professional quality video documentation of campus events including lectures, ceremonies, and other events; keep abreast of technological advances and trends in video production equipment, services, delivery media as well as copyright and fair use laws to ensure that video production services provided are not in violation and other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Educational Technology or a related field; three to five years of video production experience; demonstrated technical expertise in video, including lighting, sound, editing and media encoding and experience with Adobe Creative Suite and/or Final Cut post production software.
