Celebrate Your Freedom To Read

This week, Sept 22-28, 2013, the Smith Library will observe  Banned Books Week, a national celebration of our right to read. In our democracy librarians have long fought censorship and multiple challenges to books that contain content that might be unorthodox, scandalous, or unpopular. Librarians do not necessarily condone all content, but they certainly strive to make books, movies and articles available to patrons who wish to use them.
This week the SLC will feature four videos featuring SU students reading passages from a book of their choice. There is also an InfoGuide available about censorship and Banned Books Week for those seeking further information.
