New Career Services Director Joins SU Staff
Daniel Orozco is joining the Southwestern staff from Abilene Christian University, where he served as associate director of their Career Center since 2008. Before that, he was associate director of the Career Center at Texas A&M University from 1986 to 2008. He holds two degrees from A&M − a bachelor’s degree in curriculum and instruction and a master’s degree in educational administration. Southwestern’s Career Services was recently ranked #7 in the country and #1 in Texas for Best Career/Job Placement Services by the Princeton Review. The office offers a variety of programs throughout the year to help students explore career options. Particularly popular programs include the annual Etiquette Dinner and a Career Connections Barbecue on campus that connects students with alumni.

Football Returns
Southwestern welcomed more than 100 football players to campus this semester. Practices began in preparation for the first football game of the season on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. against Texas Lutheran University. All home games will be played at the GISD Birkelbach Field. Individual game tickets will be available for purchase at the stadium. Each student may pick up one free ticket for home games the Friday prior to the game in the McCombs Campus Center. Families wishing to tailgate are invited to join the SU community before each game at the GISD stadium parking lot. Tailgating spots will be for sale on a first-come, first-served basis upon arrival at the stadium.

This fall the campus welcomed its largest-ever incoming class.
