Guest and Faculty Recital: Diego Vega, composer, SOLI Chamber Ensemble, and Music Faculty

The program will feature contemporary works by guest Columbian composer, Diego Vega and will be performed by SOLI Chamber Ensemble, Southwestern University faculty; Kiyoshi Tamagawa, piano; Eri Lee Lam, violin; Adrienne Inglis, flute; and Anna Carney, clarinet.
Diego Vega is a Colombian composer, and has incorporated elements of Colombian traditional music into some of his work. He has written commissioned works for the Columbian National Symphony, Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, the Cornell Symphony and the Cornell Chorus, and the Cartagena International Music Festival. Dr. Vega has been awarded the National Prize of Music in Composition in 2004, the Ensemble X composition in 2004, and the Fulbright and the Sage Fellowship at Cornell University.
Dr. Vega holds degrees from Cornell University (DMA), University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music (MM), and Universidad Javeriana (BM) in Bogota, Colombia. He recently joined the theory and composition faculty at UNLV.
