Destination Service Trips Planned for 2013
Three exciting Destination: SERVICE trips are planned for the week of Spring Break, March 9 - 16.
* Gila National Wilderness, New Mexico Environmental Outreach
*Tucson, Arizona Hunger Outreach and Immigration
* Greater New Orleans Disaster Relief
We had SUCH GREAT TRIPS in 2012 that we’re going back to all three locations.
Since working at these sites last spring, the Gila Wilderness has fought a major forest fire and New Orleans has experienced yet another hurricane with the landing of Hurricane Isaac. Many of those places repaired are back to square one!
Last year was our first visit to Tucson. Besides learning about food sustainability for the poor, we felt we needed to find out about the immigration issues which impact so many things. This year the Tucson group will pick citrus fruit with United Nations Refugees and go for a Desert Walk with the Tucson Samaritans who provide humanitarian aid to those lost in the Sonora Desert.
The New Orleans trip will work with The Epworth Project based in Slidell, Louisiana. They will be doing important reconstruction work for victims of both hurricanes Katrina and Isaac.
The cost will be $100 and includes food, transportation & lodging. For those who can show need, there are scholarships available. If you need to make payments rather than pay the entire amount at once, we have that option as well. Just click on the link for the application, scholarship form, and/or the payment plan.
Call with questions. You’re going to LOVE Destination: SERVICE!
