Southwestern University, a liberal arts college in the Austin metro area, invites applications for a full time tenure-track assistant professorship in Early Modern Europe (not France) to begin August 2013.

Applications from candidates with interests in the histories of science/technology, environment, and the North Atlantic are encouraged. The position includes teaching sections of world history (either broad surveys or thematic courses), historiography, and our senior research seminar. The History Department is wide-ranging in its geographical coverage and interests, and its six faculty members participate in several interdisciplinary programs (including Environmental Studies, International Studies, and Feminist Studies).

Qualifications include Ph.D. completed by time of appointment. Candidates must demonstrate interest and potential excellence in undergraduate teaching. Candidates who have a strong commitment to enhancing diversity in academia are also preferred.
