Theatre students create scenery based on a photograph’s color palette.
In Professor Desiderio Roybal’s Scenic Design class project, the students had to select a photograph and incorporate the photograph’s color palette into their scenery. The plate of drafted scenery was a front elevation of a cut, stone wall with crumbling stucco. The students used gouche paints to draft their scenery. This project taught students about color interaction, color palettes, and improved their painting, cutting, and illustration board mounting techniques.
