Sport Clips Haircuts, which is headquartered in Georgetown, has donated $24,000 to support veterans attending Southwestern.

As a member of the Yellow Ribbon Program (a provision of the Post-9/11 GI Bill), Southwestern has agreed to work with the Veterans Administration to fund the tuition expenses of Post-9/11 veterans that are not covered through the GI bill. The scholarship contribution from Sport Clips will help Southwestern meet this commitment to six veterans who are currently enrolled.

“Southwestern is honored to partner with local, regional and national businesses such as Sport Clips to support the veterans of our country’s Armed Forces as they seek to earn a college degree,” said Kent Huntsman, associate vice president of university relations. “Contributions like this recent gift from Sport Clips are essential in order for Southwestern to help these veterans graduate with little or no debt.”

Gordon Logan, the founder and CEO of Sport Clips, is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and currently serves on the board of the VFW Foundation, which administers the charitable programs sponsored by the VFW. Logan also serves on the International Franchise Association’s VetFran Committee and as chairman of the new Veterans Mentor Network.

“As a company, Sport Clips believes it is important to step up to the plate in support of those who serve our country,” Logan said. “We are glad to support the important mission of higher education for veterans through the Yellow Ribbon Program.”

Logan also is a member of Southwestern University’s Board of Visitors.
