The next volunteer training will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012.
The Neighborhood Conference Committee (NCC) of Williamson County seeks volunteers to work with first-time truancy offenders and their families. This program is offered to students prior to formal truancy charges filed with the court system.
The student meets with NCC volunteers after being referred to the program by their school district to create a plan and set goals to achieve positive academic standing (attendance, grades, etc.). The student then follows up with the NCC case manager weekly to ensure s/he is meeting these goals.
NCC strives to keep students out of the Juvenile Justice system and empowers students to take positive control of their education.
The NCC is currently seeking volunteer panel members to complete interviews with students and families. Volunteers must pass a background check and complete the program training. For more information please contact the NCC County Coordinator, Michelle Miner: 512.943.3216 or mminer@wilco.org.
