In most households a large percentage of energy use is devoted to heating water. In an era of rising energy costs any device which provided a large amount of hot water at low cost and does not rely on fossil fuels should have a large potential market. The purpose of this project is to take a variety of ordinary materials and construct a durable and effective solar water heater. The design of this device will be optimized to provide the largest amount of hot water at the lowest possible price. The performance of this device will be monitored under a variety of weather conditions to determine how practical it would be here in central Texas.
