Southwestern is once again included in The Princeton Review’s annual college guide, The Best 381 Colleges. For the 2017 rankings, the University was also highlighted in “Colleges that Pays You Back,” recognized for its commitment to sustainability, included on the Best Career Services list, and named one of best institutions in the West.

In the new book by The Princeton Review, Southwestern’s profile reads, “One of Texas’ top-ranked universities, Southwestern offers students a ‘welcoming environment’ and invites them to become part of a ‘close community’ of scholars. ‘Small and rigorous,’ undergrads here truly appreciate that Southwestern ‘focuses heavily on student development and improvement.’ Though at times they might complain about the ‘huge work load,’ many value the fact that they’re really learning ‘to think critically’ and gaining ‘leadership skills.’ Impressively, a number of students feel that the university really imbues them with ‘the love for knowledge.’”

More specifically, the book notes that students say professors, “‘sincerely care about their students’ education’ and are always ‘willing to help students in anyway they can.’” The students also praised the University for providing “a ‘very engaging learning experience’ and allows undergrads to reach their ‘full potential.’”

Southwestern’s inclusion on the Best Career Services list is supported by the fact the students have access to a “vast amount of resources,” including graduate school panels, interview preparation, resume workshops and internship advising.

Only about 15 percent of America’s 2,500 four-year colleges and only four colleges outside the U.S. are profiled in the book, which is one of The Princeton Review’s most popular guides. Sections for the book are based on data, school visits, the National College Counselor Advisory Board, and “an unparalleled amount of feedback” from student surveys.
