Sarofim School of Fine Art’s Music Department is pleased to present the Austin Civic Orchestra in concert.

Each season the ACO travels north to Georgetown to perform in Southwestern University’s beautiful Alma Thomas Theater. This season’s concert, Spotlight on Southwestern, on Saturday, February 4th, will feature SU music faculty, students and alumni, including our Music Director Dr. Lois Ferrari, who is also Professor of Music at Southwestern. Join us as we celebrate the No. 1 ranked liberal arts university in Texas!

The concert will also feature three other Southwestern music professors.  Dr. Kenny Sheppard will lead the SU Chorale and alumni guests in selections from Felix Mendelssohn’s oratorio Elijah. The second half of the concert will feature Dr. J. Michael Cooper’s edition of Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony as well as Dr. Jason Hoogerhyde’s contemplative Lament for string orchestra conducted by ACO Assistant Conductor and 2006 SU graduate, Dr. W.P. Sterneman.

Join Drs. Cooper and Hoogerhyde for a pre-concert discussion on the music to be performed that evening.  This event will be in the Instrument Rehearsal Hall and promptly starts at 6:30 pm
