Sarofim School of Fine Arts is pleased to present the Southwestern University Chorale in it’s Fall concert.

This SU Chorale concert opens with beloved and beautiful music by Palestrina, Victoria, Bach and Brahms, the most well-known of which is Victoria’s great motet, “O Magnum Mysterium.”  For a brief time the program then turns to modern music of the twentieth century featuring an arrangement of a quirky piece by American composer, Charles Ives, called “The Circus Band.”

A chamber group from the Chorale will be performing in France over the spring break March 2016.  They will perform in venues in Nice, Aix-en-Provence and at the famous Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. In preparation for this exciting trip, the second half of the concert Saturday evening will consist two groups of French music: sacred music by Durufle, Faure and Messiaen.  The program will close with four chansons; the first two about flowering love, and the last two about the fading love of two married couples.
