Library Resources Department

The Library Resources Department provides students and faculty with access to needed information resources through local and networked collection development, partnerships, loans, and collaborations.

We take care of acquisitions and interlibrary loan requests through our Get It! system, which you can learn more about on our Get It! FAQ page. We also manage periodicals, cataloging, book repair, and book displays. We keep all the databases and e-journals working from on and off campus too. Explore the links above to our Acquisition Request Form, Links for Faculty, Databases A-Z, and Interlibrary Loan information, or stop by during our open hours Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until noon and 1 until 5 p.m.

The library’s resources include:

  • A collection of more than 390,000 books and media items (audio and video), discoverable by searching the WorldCat Local online catalog and available all hours the library is open
  • Subscriptions to more than 700 print newspapers, magazines, and journals discoverable by searching the WorldCat Local online catalog and available all hours the library is open
  • Subscriptions to more than 84,500 online newspapers, magazines, and journals discoverable by searching the library’s Online Periodicals list by title and available at all times to SU faculty, staff, and students from on- or off-campus
  • Access to over 40,000 e-books from the ACLS Humanities E-Book Collection and the EBSCOhost eBook Collection discoverable by searching the WorldCat Local online catalog and available at all times to SU faculty, staff, and students from on- or off-campus
  • Access to more than 125 databases for finding full-text articles, article citations, digital images, streaming music and video, statistics and data sets, and reference content and available at all times to SU faculty, staff, and students on- or off-campus

The library gratefully accepts donations of funds with which to purchase additional physical or digital resources. Other needed donations are very limited; potential donors can review the gift policy, which is explained in the collection development policy.
