Director of Systems and Networks & Acting Head of ITS Department
Southwestern University
July 01, 2011 - June 30, 2013
Provided leadership of centralized Information Technology Services department for the campus. Helped recruit a new Vice President of Information Services and CIO. Spent a year working with new CIO and colleagues in the library to re-envision a new integrated Information Services organization combining library and IT services. Also led a conversion from an aged campus communication infrastructure to Google Apps for Education.

Southwestern University
January 01, 2000 - June 30, 2011
Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Information Technology Services, I was responsible for all aspects of the university's data network, centralized servers, and security related to all Southwestern IT infrastructure.

Systems/Network Administrator
Southwestern University
June 01, 1997 - December 31, 1999
Hired to build, manage, support residential campus network (ResNet) for 1000+ students. Also managed central HP-UX campus servers and academic/administrative campus network (routers, switches, hubs). Wrote custom web applications on an ad-hoc basis.

Program Coordinator
International Institute of Theoretical and Applied Physics (IITAP)
December 01, 1995 - May 01, 1997
Housed at Iowa State University and largely funded by the United Nations' UNESCO, IITAP's mission was to foster scientific collaboration between scientists from developing countries and those here in the US. As the institute's Program Coordinator, I wor

Senior Director of Information Technology
Southwestern University
July 01, 2013 - present
Provide leadership of a centralized Information Technology department which is part of a larger Information Services division encompassing library and IT campus services.

Research

Computing

I work with TCP/IP networks with UNIX-like operating systems on a regular basis.  I continue to look for innovative methods to solve real-world problems in a diverse university computing environment.

Astronomy

I am fortunate to continue to be active in Astronomical research. In conjunction with UT's McDonald observatory and the Delaware Asteroseismic Research Center, I participate as a member of a global team collecting and analyzing time-series photometric data of pulsating white dwarf stars.  The resulting data sets provide a view into the interior physics of these stars yielding valuable insight into stellar evolution.
