Summer Opportunities for Sociology and Anthropology Students
Research Training National Science Foundation – Research Experience for Undergraduates In the past, several of our sociology majors have completed the Demography REU at UT and several anthropology majors have completed the Cultural Anthropology program at UNT.
Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR), Ann Arbor, MI offers a summer program in quantitative methods for social research.
The Health Management and Policy Summer Enrichment Program at University of Michigan offers an internship program for students interested in eliminating health disparities.
American Sociological Association Undergraduate Honors Program offers an introduction to graduate school and careers in sociology as part of the annual conference each August.
Several organizations offer summer internships that are particularly appropriate for sociology and anthropology majors:
- Refugee Services of Texas (fall, spring and summer)
- National Association for the Practice of Anthropology
- American Museum of Natural History
- Smithsonian Institution
- National Park Service
- The Carter Center
- Urban Institute—for juniors and above (including graduates)
- The Washington Center
