Latin 4
Spring 2007

There will be four quizzes on grammar. Quiz #1 will cover material from the first two weeks of class. Quizzes #2-4 will be designed to react to needs / weaknesses revealed during the course of the semester.
There will be four examinations, including the final. Each exam will cover work from the unit immediately preceding the exam, and will consist of:
1. seen and sight passages for translation, with grammar;
2. Roman culture identifications.
3. scansion (beginning with exam #2)
Regular preparation, class participation, and attendance are expected, and will affect your grade. Foreign language study is such that certain aspects of one's performance cannot be judged by examinations, but rather by class performance. Therefore, 20% of your final grade will be based upon daily class participation; effective class participation assumes preparation of daily assignments before class.
Southwestern University is committed to assisting students with disabilities. Southwestern University will make reasonable accommodations for students with documented disabilities. To arrange accommodations students should contact Kimele Carter, the Academic Services Coordinator within the Office of Academic Services (Cullen Building, 3rd floor; phone 863-1536; e-mail carterk@southwestern.edu). Students seeking accommodations should notify the Academic Services Coordinator at least two weeks before services are needed. It is the student’s responsibility to discuss any necessary accommodations with the appropriate faculty member.
Note. Make-up exams are the exception, not the rule, and will not be granted automatically. Make-ups must be arranged with the instructor in advance of the regularly scheduled time, and will be given (or not) at the discretion of the instructor.
