Message from the President
Dear Seniors and Families,
On behalf of the Southwestern University community, I would like to extend my warmest congratulations on your remarkable accomplishment. It is my pleasure to invite you to join us as we honor the Class of 2014 during Southwestern’s 170th Commencement Convocation ceremony.
The goal of education, particularly at Southwestern, is to transform lives — to help individuals learn how to think more imaginatively and wisely today so they are able to innovate and create artful solutions to the problems of tomorrow.
Graduates, as we approach this time of celebration, I encourage you to reflect on the moments that have transformed you as an individual, and I challenge you to fearlessly seek these moments for the rest of your lives. Remember that the relationships you have cultivated and the lessons you have learned at Southwestern will continue beyond the walls of our classrooms.
As alumni, you — the Class of 2014 — will join an extraordinary group of individuals who represent hope, creativity, and a true passion for life-long learning. I am honored to have had the opportunity to share my first year as president of Southwestern University with you and wish you all the very best in your futures.
