Brown Symposium


Photography Contest

The Brown Symposium XXXVI, titled Healing: The Art and Science of Medicine, will be held February 6-7, 2014 at Southwestern University. The organizers of the symposium invite all members of the Southwestern community (faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends) to submit original photographs that illustrate healing, medicine, or health care. Whenever you encounter something that makes you think of healing, take a picture, upload it, and tag it with #BrownSym2014 hashtag.

The best photographs submitted each month (November, December, January) will be recognized. Cash prizes will be awarded for overall first, second, and third place winners.

Deadline

November 15- January 31, 2014. For monthly recognition, photographs must be submitted no later than midnight of the last day of the month. To be eligible for overall prizes, photographs must be submitted by January 31, 2014.

Eligibility

Photographs should depict some aspect of healing, medicine, or health care. Open to members of the Southwestern University community (students, staff, faculty, alumni, and university friends). Lecturers, moderators, and hosts of Brown Symposium XXXIII may submit photos but are ineligible for cash prizes.

Prizes

  • 1st place – gift card in the amount of $300
  • 2nd place - gift card in the amount of $200
  • 3rd place - gift card in the amount of $100

Winners will be announced at the Brown Symposium, February 6-7, 2014

Tag your picture with #BrownSym2014 (the official hashtag) on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook. Only accounts set to public will be eligible for viewing by the judges. If you do not use these platforms, please email submissions to: digital@southwestern.edu.

By entering the contest you give us permission to use the photos for publicity and promotion of Brown Symposium free of charge. This includes use on the websites of Southwestern University. You retain all other rights to your photos.
